An innovative exhibit with functionality and purpose using rental properties.

Project Brief

Nuance Communications, Inc. is a leading provider of voice and language solutions for businesses and consumers around the world. The company sought to demonstrate how their ambient clinical intelligence (ACI) solution for healthcare is putting conversation back in the encounter with clinical documentation that writes itself during Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2019. The annual trade show focuses on improving healthcare through information technology and management systems.

From a design perspective, Nuance challenged Derse to create an environment that imparts thought leadership and innovative technology as a means to build and enhance relationships. The tone of the exhibit was to be one of authority, innovation, and cutting-edge technology—capturing how Nuance technologies, applications, and services make the user experience more compelling by transforming the way people interact with devices and systems.

In order to create cross-selling and up-selling opportunities, the booth needed to have an effective flow and high-profile visibility. Nuance wanted to showcase how they are revolutionizing healthcare and advancing AI to improve the encounter experience for both healthcare providers and patients. Therefore, space needed to be allocated for both strategic demonstrations as well as captivating messaging.

The catch? The customized booth had to be designed and built using rental properties.

Derse’s designers created a vibrant double-deck exhibit with various engagement and education opportunities. Demo units flanked the aisles and provided sufficient space for privacy, while allowing a clear pathway into the heart of the exhibit. The multiple demo stations educated attendees about how Nuance can increase the ability to spend more time serving patients and empower medical personnel to exponentially improve the healthcare experience.

Nuance’s goal of an authoritative, cutting-edge exhibit establishing their commitment to the healthcare industry was achieved with Derse’s purposeful creative design. While highly customized, a majority of the exhibit components were rental or modular: Aluvision Omni-55 Frames, Highmark ExpoDeck, and various Derse rental kiosks and counters. The result was just what the doctor ordered—an innovative exhibit with functionality and purpose.
